Galerie Schoffel de Fabry

The Schoffel Gallery in Fabry, run by a family of Primitive Art dealers active since the 1960s, enjoys an international reputation and has contributed to the development of major collections, both private and institutional, such as the Dapper Foundation, the Louvre Museum, the Quai Branly Museum, and, more recently, the Louvre Abu Dhabi. The gallery specializes in the arts of Oceania, Africa, North America, and Southeast Asia. It organizes and participates in numerous art exhibitions, such as “Jackson Pollock and Shamanism” at the Pinacothèque de Paris in 2008 and “Return from Expedition” at the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in 2012. The gallery organizes thematic and cross-disciplinary exhibitions such as: Victor Brauner and Primitive Arts, October 2010. The Schoffel de Fabry Gallery will exhibit a collection of primitive artworks at the Grand Palais, specially selected for FAB Paris 2025. Of particular note is a rare Mbumba Bwiti Sango/Tsogho reliquary figure from Gabon.

Surrounded by ancient artifacts from Africa, Oceania, and Southeast Asia, visitors to booth S15 will discover a collection of prints by French photographer Jean-Michel Fauquet (born in 1950 in Lourdes, France), created through processes that draw on drawing, painting, and sculpture before resulting in photographs reminiscent of prints. This is essentially studio work, where the subject—crafted from humble materials—serves as a pretext that prompts the viewer to construct a narrative drawn from their own memory and imagination. His way of seeing light and forms is highly personal. His printing techniques, as well as his use of specific papers or media, also make him an alchemist. With this in mind, the gallery will strive to highlight the mystical and unconscious connections the artist maintains with archaic forms, mirrored in primitive art. Judith Schoffel de Fabry was appointed in 2021 as President of the CNE, the National Society of Art Experts.
